Product Modeling and Photoshoots

I am in a dilemma of sorts and I need some advice if you fellow bloggers and followers would be so kind….When doing a photoshoot of a new product that you have made, designed, bought what is your media? Do you use mother nature in all her loveliness and lets face it ugliness? Set up a huge studio and do backdrops and fancy lighting? To use human models or mannequins? I ponder all of these things when photographing my new ideas and always feel like I fall just a bit short. I see all these beautiful pictures attached to patterns and creations and I sit and scratch my head and try to figure out why their’s looks better than my own.

So here is my dilemma that I am referring to for today, I created a sweater, of my own personal design and want to showcase it in the best way possible to show all of it’s wonderous details (ok yes I am a little sarcastic and melodramatic this morning) and I am trying to find the best way to do so. I will be the first one to admit that my budget is very very limited, my model is not very photogenic (that would be mwah) and my photographer does not have much of a zest for photography. Not that he doesn’t try, it is just not a natural talent for him. I tried taking photographs with the sweater on a mannequin and felt that it just did not highlight it’s best qualities (might have something to do with the fact that it is headless), I have also tried laying it flat on the floor and hanging from a hanger all to not satisfactory results so far. I have done a small impromptu photo session involving myself and yes the dog and have come up with a few pictures, but me being me I am really not happy with them.

So here is my question with all that said above should I just go with the pictures that I have of me modeling the sweater or should I keep trying? If you would be so kind as to leave comments on this and either a) give me some much needed advice as to another technique that I have not tried or b) tell me which picture you think I should include with my pattern once it is written up and ready to be distributed? Oh and please be kind…I know that I am not the most photogenic person on the planet but I do try to at least look presentable 🙂

Thank you in advance and I hope that you all have a wonderful day!

Getting all my links set up….

So today is a new day and I have decided that I need to get on the ball about getting all of my social media links, stores, etc all linked in together. Who knew it would be such a pain? Geez, you would think with all the technology out there that it would be as simple as a point and click by now right?!? Only for facebook, twitter, pininterest etc. Anywho, I have added several of my current sites to my menu (which I am still playing with) and will continue to do so over the course of the next week. Please bear with me during this process as my theme, layout, pages etc will be continually changing as I accomodate all my information that I really want to have on here 🙂
